Stage Designs

Throwback: Long Stripes

The Central Production Team from Christ’s Church of the Valley in Peoria, Arizona brings us this lumber planks and lighting design. (originally posted October 2013)

One of the most important things CCV considers in stage design is continuity between its multisite campuses. This design was constructed in a way that was easily copied at all locations.

The design was simple – wooden planks and dramatic lighting. The simplicity of the design allowed for consistency in look and quality at all campuses. Each location hung a red and black triangle, which was the main graphic for the series.

The end result was a consistent look and feel across all campuses.

For deeper insight, read the article “Creating Continuity For Multisite Churches” written by Brad McCraw, Central Production Team Director.

We are looking to do something very similar. How did you create the light effect behind? Is it translucent coroplast? I’d be interested in seeing a side or behind view if possible?
    Thanks in advance!

  2. Tessa Bucklin says:

Hi Jude! We used Cyc lighting that was 10′ upstage of the wood boards. I’ll ask around, but I don’t think we have a picture from behind the set.

  3. Ashley says:

How did you actually hang each plank?

  4. Ian says:

    Hello,
What is the wood planks attached too, is it just a regular solid wall or is there some kind of special paint treatment or cloth that was used?

  5. Andres rivera says:

What size and type of wood planks did you use

  6. Teresa says:

How are the planks hanged? We love this designed, just wondering how to recreate it.

  7. Jackson Whitacre says:

What is the background wall color? I want to be able to use our lighting to achieve the color changes.
