Stage Designs

Mid-Explosion

Brandy Gibson from Chestnut Ridge Church in Morgantown, WV brings us this design that looks like a mid-explosion snapshot.

To create this set for their series “the Box”, they stacked about 80 empty cardboard boxes. To add a more explosive element, they extended the boxes beyond the stage. So they used 20lb fishing line and hung boxes from their catwalk above congregation. Then they hit the whole set with some great lighting to bring it to life!

2 questions. Where did you purchase the boxes from and what were the dimensions of said boxes?

    • Brandy Gibson says:

uline.com is where we ordered from. we ordered two sizes, i believe they were 18″ and 24″ or close to that.

Looks Great! Did you buy white boxes, paint them white, or leave them as is?

    • Brandy Gibson says:

We left them the color of the cardboard–we initially thought we might have to paint them. So glad we didn’t have to :)

Great idea. Love it! This is the design we’re using for Easter 2012; modern view of the tomb + adding an angled cross rear center stage.
