On the Square

Garrett Pelt from First Baptist Church On The Square in Lagrange, GA brings us this great LED tape setup.

From Garrett: This set was built for the city-wide Disciple Now youth gathering. It was built on an existing 1×4 frame that has been utilized for numerous sets. The shape and structure was built out of 1/2″ schedule 40 PVC electrical conduit. It was measured, cut and spray painted flat black before being mounted to the frame. It took twelve 10′ long pieces to make the design. The corners were connected with 1/2″ 90 degree PVC elbow joints. String was used to make sure each was level and plumb as well as helping find the exact center for the LED Par lights that were installed. Once the design was mounted, the LED tape was attached using the adhesive on the tape and zip-ties to secure it. It was then wired to the existing DMX decoder from other sets and tested out. It was run using Jands Vista lighting software. All other lights were existing lights and not purchased for this build. Total budget was $400 and I stayed under budget.

Materials used:
12- 1/2″ schedule 40 PVC electrical conduit, 10′ long
32-1/2″ 90 degree PVC elbows
12-16′ rolls of RGB waterproof LED tape bought from Amazon.com
100′-standard 22 gauge 4 conductor wire that was donated
