Potato Chip Stage

Darcy Smith from First Baptist Leeton in Leeton, CT brings us this stage design made from millions of potato chips. (Yep, potato chips!)

Their pastor wanted to do a series on the passage in the Bible that says “He lays me beside still waters”. So they titled the sermon series “Lays”.

What better way to illustrate a sermon series like that than to decorate your whole stage with Lays potato chips! So they bought over 1,000 packages of potato chips from grocery store in the area. They designed a sketch up version of the design in great details so they could provide a sort of patterned look to the set.

Then came the time where they painstakingly hot glued each individual chip onto their back wall.

It took a group of 70 people almost four full days to glue over 20,000 chips on their back wall.

They’ve had to fumigate their church once a week to keep ants from destroying their piece. But it’s well worth the effort for the impact the stage makes.

Plus they plan to re-use the chips in their youth ministry for a big city-wide lock-in happening in a few weeks.

Great job, guys!

    Darn you Jonathan!!

I read the fumigation & thought “This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen”

  8. Jonathan Malm says:

To verify…yes this was an April Fools joke. Please don’t try this. This would be a disaster and even a massive fire hazard. Potato chips are actually very flammable.

  9. I think its a good idea actually! I like that it took 70 people 4 days and 20,000 chips.
