Stage Designs

Stage Siding

Bob from New Seasons Worship Center in East Freetown, MA brings us this design using vertical blind slats. (Originally posted January 2015)

Bob built 2×4 wall panels with 1/2 OSB sheathing and put 1×3’s on it spaced 4.5″ apart. He built 4 like that running them horizontally. Then he built the center two panels the same but put the 1×3’s at a 45 degree angle so that when he put the two panels together it formed a V. He also painted them white so double sided tape would stick.

Then he applied PVC vertical blind slats, putting the inner one curved out and the one on the 1×3′ curved in. He only taped the top edge with double sided carpet tape.

He also build two light towers to cover poles on their stage.

  3. What is the material used for the sides two towers?
One light at the bottom to illuminate?
    Gels to change colors?
    Looks awesome by the way!

We’ve attempted this with two 100 watt flood lights at the bottom, just not bright enough. Where did you get the Stairville CX-2 RGBAW units? Google search is only coming up with things in Germany and the UK. Any alternative lighting you can recommend?

  10. George says:

Excellent work! I believe the congregation would enjoy the pleasant soothing ambiance during worship. Bob, I wanted to know if you are available for consultation? I am constructing a new auditorium stage for my church and would like to contact you for your expertise.
My leaders are in love with your design and would like to do something similar. Please contact me via georgepadmore@yahoo.co.uk to discuss. We are in Chelmsford, MA.
