Sticky Back

Shane Tucker from LifePoint Church in Lewis Center, Ohio brings us this swip-swapped stick backdrop.

They started by building stands out of lumber and nails (2×4) and painting them black. They also bought scrap lumber from Menards. They had the wood in bundles of about 20. The consistency was like a yard stick, but they were not as consistent as a yard stick. They painted the “yard sticks” and screwed them to the black vertical 2x4s at a consistent distance apart.

They’ve used these pieces for two series’. The first series was all symmetrically horizontal and the second was all just crisscrossed. They lit the stands with 16 Chauvet COLORdash Batten TRI’s.

They had an awesome volunteer at their church build the stands for free and the lumber, nails, and screws were less than $50. See more details on Shane’s blog.

One response to “Sticky Back”

  1. I really like the idea of using the materials from one set design to create another set design. Great job reducing, reusing and recycling! This is a lesson we can all learn from.
