Ryan Garey from Kenmore Alliance Church in Buffalo, New York brings us this great use of texture and light.
From Ryan: I was inspired by the “line of rays” design on csdi.com but I wanted to make the lines thicker and more diffused so I wouldn’t get complaints about shining lights in people’s eyes. I cut 3″ PVC pipes down the center with a band saw and stuck the LED tape inside. We ran two 2x4s from the floor to our existing ceiling light grid. I screwed the pipes into the 2×4 and then covered them with lee 250r diffusion paper. I went a little over budget on this set and spent $1600. We already had the foldscape walls from a previous set and all the other light fixtures and the projector. To save money we built the center screen with fire-rated Celtic cloth from Rosebrand. We stretched it over a frame we made from 2x4s. A trick used was an easy gate kit from lowes which held the corners square. I put in center support and attached it to a T-mending brace. Our screen is 117″x209″ but you could make it any size you want. The center part is nomad room dividers from mioculture.com.
