Christmas in String

Daniel and Lacey Burton from Lonestar Church in Denver, MO bring us this great Christmas design.

Wall letters: each bubble letter was drawn out on a 4×8 sheet of painted 3/8inch plywood, then the perimeter of each board and subsequent letter was inlayed with screws spaced 1 inch apart (approximately 3000 screws) then white yarn (5 spools) was used to fill the spaces in between the screws leaving only the letters uncovered. The rest is just par lights on the floor ( 200$ )

Globe gold lamps- created with thick twine soaked in thinned tacky glue, wrapped around different-sized punching balloons, and then allowed to dry before carefully removing the balloon. Then added the amber pendant lights. (35$)

Tree- created tree using 2 round wooden circles 36” and 8” and attaching furring strips sideways and assembled into a cone shape then used a spade bit to cut a whole in the top circle to hang star pendant light through center of tree. (100$)

Paper star lanterns- purchased online for (65$)

Total project cost ($400)

The biggest struggles were creating the string lamps, you have to be super careful to remove and loosen the balloon from the string without popping the balloon if not when the balloon deflates it will pull the string with it collapsing the structure.

The other struggle they faced was not making the panels for the lettering too heavy to hang so they had to use a thinner plywood, meaning it was more prone to splitting, so when screwing in the screws they had to be careful to not inlay the screws further than necessary to attach the yarn to.
