Stage Designs

Radial Gradient

Jordan West from NorthPark Church in Meridian, MS brings us this great string design.

From Jordan: This is our newest stage design that was inspired by the “Worship Leader Hangout” YouTube channel. We built a total of eight frames with the dimensions of the large ones being 8ft x 4ft and the smaller ones being 6ft by 4ft. The “floating” frames are being hung with black plastic chain from the top of our curtain rig.

Materials Used:
-1×2 white pine boards
-black paint
-white shimmery yarn
-1 inch screws
-LED light strips

Budget:
-All in for approximately $450

Techniques:
The hardest part of this build was making sure the boards were somewhat square before the yarn was attached. We learned the hard way that the yarn design doesn’t work if the board isn’t at least close to being squared up.

We used heavy duty zip ties to anchor the chain to the frames when hanging them. This allowed us to maneuver them pretty easily to make sure they came out straight.

When attaching the LED strips to the frames, we decided to use liquid nail in addition to the adhesive that is already on the strips. This design will be up for a while and the temperature in our worship center can fluctuate quite a bit, so we’re hoping that the liquid nail will help it hold up over time.

Definitely use this project as an opportunity to spend some time with and invest in your team! We had about 10 people working on this project which saved me a lot of time and a lot of headache.
