They bought 18 old window sashes at $5 each from Habitat for Humanity. They spray painted the individual window panes and hung them from a grid constructed of Unistrut hung from a curtain track. They lit each pane with LED back lighting.
REALLY like this! Simple, easy, inexpensive and very cool looking.
