Small Transformation

Matt Duncan from Revive in North Myrtle Beach, SC brings us this renovation of a room for their new church.

From Matt: Since we knew the crowd would be small initially, we decided to go with a cozy, living room feel to the design…also, time was extremely short to build out the empty space. We signed the building lease on Thursday and had our first official service that Sunday. To soften the stage area, a donated piece of carpet fit the bill perfectly. A few floor lamps with amber LED bulbs & the black backdrop made from a few table cloths purchased from Walmart were the main elements of the design. The large mirror on the wall was initially planned to be removed, but there was no time to repaint the lime green wall behind it. So instead, the mirror was repurposed into a Prayer Wall, where anyone is free to write their prayer requests on it during the closing song. The REVIVE letters & flameless candles came from Hobby Lobby. A borrowed chair, table, and a pillow round out the warm, inviting feel of the design. Back in the cafe area, the space didn’t need much- a few hanging LED Edison style bulbs (again from Walmart) and some tables & chairs completed the space. Total cost was less than $400 to make the space ready for guests at our first service.
