Jeff Abbott from Ada Bible Church in Grand Rapids, MI brings us this awesome cityscape.
He doesn’t usually do themed sets, but their 10 week summer series, Superpowers, presented a great opportunity to build a Cityscape.
Jeff loves using Coroplast as a construction material, but it lacks enough rigidity to stand on its own. After some testing, he designed some ribbing that when attached, gave the Coroplast enough structure to stand on its own.
They cut Coroplast 4×8 sheets into 3 different building sizes: 12″, 18″ and 24″. Then they hand cut the building “top” shapes into the pieces.
They CNC cut lots and lots ribs, each building needed 6 ribs, from particle board. They also built a fixture to locate the ribs a consistent spacing apart and to help make the building “square”. Then they brad nailed the Coroplast to the ribs.
They also painted some the buildings 2 different shades of a light blue/grey to create some contrast. Some buildings they left white.
Great! What lights are you using in the picture where the screen reads “I want to be close to You?” Are they pinspots? Cheap 12w LED movers?
Great, I’ve built some too . honestly you design are mind blowing.
