Bob from New Seasons Worship Center in East Freetown, MA brings us this design using vertical blind slats. (Originally posted January 2015)
Bob built 2×4 wall panels with 1/2 OSB sheathing and put 1×3’s on it spaced 4.5″ apart. He built 4 like that running them horizontally. Then he built the center two panels the same but put the 1×3’s at a 45 degree angle so that when he put the two panels together it formed a V. He also painted them white so double sided tape would stick.
Then he applied PVC vertical blind slats, putting the inner one curved out and the one on the 1×3′ curved in. He only taped the top edge with double sided carpet tape.
He also build two light towers to cover poles on their stage.
Love it. I myself do a lot a back stage and events scenarios for my church.
THIS IS MY FIRST DESIGN THANKS BOB
Do you have a picture of that set design with the lighting that the pastor uses in it?
What is the material used for the sides two towers?
One light at the bottom to illuminate?
Gels to change colors?
Looks awesome by the way!
White coroplast in column and I used 1 light per column Stairville CX-2 RGBAW 15X8WATT . Frame for columns 1.5″sq pine. Color changes with my DMX2.0
Thanks for the info. That helps greatly. White Coroplast or translucent?
We don’t have a DMX system but if the light was white floodlight, would you get the same effect with orange Coroplast?
Not sure depends on the wattage of your lights
I have to admit, I am impressed with the simplicity of your design, and how nice it looks lit up. Great work
How many lights are required to light up the back wall?
I have total of 11 ADJ MEGA BARS 5 in middle and 3 on each end.
Thanks for the info. Your stage turned out really nice.
How wide is your back wall?
about 38′
Beautiful design. Where did you get the PVC blinds?
Homedepot bought plane white and got the heavy duty double sided carpet tape from homedepot too.bob
Im also building lift systems for tv’s wireless with acuators
We’ve attempted this with two 100 watt flood lights at the bottom, just not bright enough. Where did you get the Stairville CX-2 RGBAW units? Google search is only coming up with things in Germany and the UK. Any alternative lighting you can recommend?
ADJ. 12P HEX and megabars rgba
Excellent work! I believe the congregation would enjoy the pleasant soothing ambiance during worship. Bob, I wanted to know if you are available for consultation? I am constructing a new auditorium stage for my church and would like to contact you for your expertise.
My leaders are in love with your design and would like to do something similar. Please contact me via georgepadmore@yahoo.co.uk to discuss. We are in Chelmsford, MA.
