Musical Redesign

Levi shares a church stage design from Lanier Hills Church in Gainesville, GA:

Upright pianos are often available for free on Facebook Marketplace. Make sure it fits your vision before picking it up. Disassembling the piano is a bit of work, and we removed the harp to reduce weight and create a cleaner stage look. Inside, we mounted a DI box, LED controller, power supply, and surge protector. We also added an electronic pedal and an XLR jack to secure the cables.

We stained the piano black to match the stage while preserving the wood grain. The RGB strip LEDs are housed in diffuser channels, with the lighting controlled by a DMX system. The total cost was about $200, mainly for stain and hardware, but you could do it for free with a donated piano.

My advice: research how to disassemble an upright piano, and plan for future stage updates as you build!
