Livestream Designs

Outdoor Streaming

Gary Meinecke from Rush Creek Church in the DFW Area of Texas brings us this livestream setup.

They used one 8ft pole in the center and 6 poles around the outer edges. They used zip ties to secure the lights to the top of each pole. Most of the poles/stands were borrowed from their video department. Each channel controlled two strands of light. They ran three strands to the DMX controller and then each of those strands connected to another strand in the middle. They measured from the center pole to each outer pole to make sure they were close to the same distance, but they didn’t stress about how evenly things were spread. They also use straight lamp stands with Edison bulbs to add light and they liked the way they looked in the shots.

Ideally they would have had better lighting for the video. They know that for next time. Gary was still very happy with the look and their church was so thankful and gave great feedback. They recorded this on Sunday March 29th and ran it as a live stream at 6 and 8PM on Sunday April 5th – which was when their annual Palm Sunday night of worship was scheduled. It’s one of two times that all 5 of their local campuses come together and they didn’t want to cancel so they changed it to a live stream and it was a success.

They had ‘on/off’ capability but couldn’t dim them unfortunately.
