Pizza Flavored Stage Design?

Kenmore Alliance Church’s Ryan Garey spoke about their design, which was inspired by a pizza circle.

I wanted to create a set that was simple and easy to construct but also had a cool visual effect. So I drew inspiration from the Pizza Party set on Propresenter and decided to make my own version of it.

I used 19″ pizza circles that I got from WB Mason because they are already our office supplier. I treated them with Rosco Flamex for fire protection. We used some homemade skypans that we built for a previous set design we placed on the floor in the back. We already had a center projector setup in our room so we used the pizza circles as a screen for a cool effect.

I created a mask in Propresenter painstakingly drawing black stars in all gaps so that only the image would show up on each circle. On our stage, we have a pipe flown already so all we needed was something to hang the circles from—and what better than our trusty pipe?

We hung each circle from its own zip tie at the top and bottom of each column (and left enough space between them so they wouldn’t overlap). We then connected each circle with a “Plastic Fastener Hang Tag Clear Snap Lock Pin Security Loop for Retail Store”.
