Christmas Designs

Pyramid Christmas

Ben Wysong from LifePointe Christian Church in Elk Grove, CA brings us this wooden set for their Christmas season.

The wood trees were made out of thin plywood purchased at Home Depot and 2×4’s were built as the frames. These 2×4’s were painted black so they wouldn’t be seen with the lights on them.

There were 3 different heights to the trees. 12ft, 10ft, and 8ft. There were 2 of each of these heights. They staggered the trees on each side to create depth, and lit them with megabar pro LED’s and Sixpar 200’s.

The structure in the middle was a 12ft x 6ft “Advent Jar Calendar.” There were 25 Jars that were screwed into the top of supporting 2×4’s. They wanted it to be an even/structured look, so they spaced the jars evenly. There were regular Christmas lights that were stapled behind the boards and stuffed into the jars. They then filled the jars with rock salt to make it look like they were filled with snow. The back of the Advent Jar Calendar was covered with Burlap so there wouldn’t be any empty space, the burlap really completed the look.

This design also survived for some time after Christmas. They took the Christmas trees down and used the wooden ones for a couple of weeks of the winter season.

Overall cost for supplies: $400. Some of the wood/paint was repurposed from previous designs.
