Special Event Design

Ringside

CJ Walters from Revive in Williamstown, KY brings us this fighting scene.

This design was for a marriage sermon series entitled “The Fight Club”. They went with a boxing gym theme. The build was simple and built for less than $50, which was mainly paint and duct tape. They used landscaping timbers as their ring posts because they are cheaper than regular 4×4’s. These were painted black. Large rope was borrowed from a church member and wrapped with colored duct tape before being hung on the posts with nails. One of CJ’s favorite touches was the use of kids arm inflatables as the turn buckle pads. They simply wrapped them in red duct tape and the look was what they were going for.

Random boxing pictures were printed out using a Windows program that breaks down each picture like a puzzle of 8.5×11 sheets. They glued these to some .25 inch panel board and hung them on the wall. Their drum box was turned into a trophy case. They borrowed random trophies. Most were car trophies but you could not tell from audience. The big wow factor they went for was the American flag they painted on the back wall of the stage. They just taped it off and painted the stripes, then cut out paper stars to hang on the wall. They added misc. boxing gear and some mannequins which were dressed differently for each sermon. This build took them about a day and a half to build, most of the time was painting the flag and about 2 hrs to tear down.
