Stage Designs

Small Lines

Justin Main and Bryan Suter from Evident Church in Lenoir, NC brings us this cool, young look.

From Justin: We wanted to keep cost down since earlier in 2020 we started renovating our new location. The design is rather simple using 7 LED tape strips with 4-ch decoders, since the tape is RGBW and cheap eBay purchased LED Par Cans.

The LED tape was mounted with diffuser strips then mounted on 2×4 uprights that are set at different depths. We had this tape left over from our old location and just reused it to keep cost down. In the ceiling we used recessed LED lights above the stage, this helped with lighting anyone on stage. This is run to an ADJ DP-415R dimmer pack which is controlled by a cheap DMX board so that we can easily dim the lights in auditorium during worship and when our pastor comes up. The main stage lighting is controlled with an old laptop running QLC+, which is a great free lighting software.

All the lighting was purchased from Amazon and eBay with a total cost of around $350. Being a small church budget is everything and this is a way of producing a pretty cool stage design on a tight budget.

Could give me your actual item ref # for all the items you are using in your lighting setup. We are a small church looking to expand our lighting but are on a strict budget as well.

    Thanks

I’m very new at all if this and looking to do the same at my church. Would you be able to walk me through how you wired the LEDs and power to the decoder?

What is the piece of hardware you use from the laptop to control the LEDs? Can you share links?? I’ve taken up a project due to no one else stepping up and I’m in over my head.

Hi loved this setup on a budget. I wonder if something similar is possible for a set up good for travel?
