Stage Designs

Strung Together

Emily Neal from The Sanctuary Church in Romeoville, IL brings us this large string art project.

From Emily: We created a large string art project to launch our two-year vision, called “Together.” We cut out the Together logo from plywood, which we then stained and lined with nails. Our logo includes three colors: blue, green and tangerine. We used yarn in these three colors to complete the string art. The three colors of string reflect our theme verse for the vision, Ecc. 4:12. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

To install the string art, we hung a bar above the pallet wall that serves as a backdrop for our stage. We hung the logo with black wire to give it the appearance that it’s floating. We installed LED lighting on the back of the logo to create a silhouette when the stage is dark. This allows us to create different moods with lighting.

The Together logo is 18 feet wide, and the tallest letters are more than 4 feet tall.

I also described the process in much greater detail on my personal blog.

I love the stage and lighting design. How did you do the backlighting on the together sign? I’m interested in doing something similar to that.
