Francesco Carbone and Jeff Muir from OneChurch.to in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada brings us this design for their series.
From Francesco: We designed this specifically for “capture only” as we have no live audience yet due to covid restrictions. We started out by “blacking out” our stage floor. Prior to this, we had brown carpet. We purchased 4ftx8ft sheets of Styrene, that was used to make the floor and give it the reflective look.
On our back wall in front of the drape line, we built a grid for mounting lights on out of black fence post. This allows us to freely clamp fixtures wherever we want on the wall and move them to different positions freely. We then built 4 risers for our band/vocal team to stand on and used some clear plastic sheets in front of the risers to hit with lights from behind.
Now, onto the fixtures… for this stage design we are using:
– 16 Elation Pixel Bar 60IPs (back wall diagonal)
– 8 Elation Pixel Bar 120IPs (back wall diagonal)
– 8 Astera Titan Tubes
– 8 ChromaQ Colour Force 12s (band riser lights)
– 6 Chauvet R2 Moving Washes
– 8 ADJ MegaTriPar Washes
Lighting CONTROL:
The Elation Pixel Bars are controlled via a protocol called KlingNet, through a software called “Arkaos LEDMaster.” This allows us to not only send solid colours, but motion backgrounds to the pixel bars.
The rest of the lighting package is controlled via DMX by a GrandMA3 Light Console. We are using 3 universes of DMX. House lighting and flygrid are U1, R2 washes and Colourforces are U2, and U3 is all Astera Tubes.
The Astera Tubes are actually completely wireless. They are battery powered and controlled via wireless DMX outputting direct from the MA console.
We do also have the ability to control LEDmaster directly from the MA console.
