Andy Munao III from Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Eustis, Florida brings us these cool stained glass windows that mirror their actual windows.
From Andy: We came up with this simple design based on the beautiful stain glass windows we have in our sanctuary. We wanted to incorporate some real stained glass into the design because we have a church member who is a stain glass designer and teacher in our community. We were able to snag a few simple pieces and hang them up in the framed unit with some small chain that he generously provided. We also lucked out finding two of the same windows and a third unique one for the middle.
We are a small church, but this design is great for us, simple, and can be used in several ways. We’ve had it up for 9 months or so, and can change the colors of the 2 Led light bars shining up, and the 3 individual PAR LED’s shining on the wall behind the windows to give them some definition. The base of the unit is a 10 ft long x 16 inch wide sanded plywood to hide all of the lights and wires. There are two few (2×4’s on end) on either side standing it up. The middle window frame is offset compared to the outside windows by one layer of 2×4. I originally attempted to put some plastic sheets behind the glass to enclose the windows with the lights, but it really dulled the lighting, so I did away with it and just kept it completely open.
The materials were mostly left over 2×4’s that we had from a different project. The arches at the top I purchased at hobby lobby and fastened them to the top to finish off the unit.
Final step was to paint it white. We did one coat, to give it a worn light coat.
You can see in the photos that we complimented the unit with lit birch tree’s Christmas Eve services.
In one of the photos I am preaching and it really sticks out quite nicely as a subtle and elegant backdrop.
