Holes in the Hive

Jordan Christie from CrossPointe Church in Valdosta, GA brings us this great hexagonal design.

From Jordan: For this design we wanted to try something geometric and our staff really enjoyed the look of Lit Hive.

This was a very simple design. We created a large 10 ft tall wall with 2x4s and covered it with 3/8″ plywood. Then we painted it black. We cut out 50 3′ hexagons, painted them white, arranged them in a honeycomb pattern and spaced them out 6″ apart. To create a gap between the wall and hexagons we used 3″ pieces of PVC pipe.

The wall itself isn’t all that impressive but once you hit it with color it really comes to life! We lit this wall with 12 Chauvet Pro COLORado Batten 72s.

This was an easy design and is easily scaled to any stage size. The only cost for us was the lumber which we will be able to reuse in future designs.
