Stage Designs

Light of the Cross

Edward Dimayacyac from Smythe Street Church in Fredericton, NB, Canada brings us this awesome LED look.

It’s a super simple stage design with the use of LED strips, corrugated plastic, wood, and some insulation foam. It was mainly compromised of LED bars made out of wood and plastic lit up by RGBW LED strips and insulation foam lit up with stage lights. Some of the plans had to be changed mid-build due to complications (such as having the light bars bolted onto the floor) so there may be some differences seen between the plan and the final product. This design was inspired by two different designs on this website (Bars on Bars and Tri Foam).

The budget for this build was around $600 CAD, but it could be way cheaper if you already own a lot of the equipment.

Did you put any for of diffusion on the front of the LEDs?

    • I left a gap between the LED Strip and the corrugated plastic so that the individual bulbs of the led strip would not show. I had also painted the inside of the bars white to allow light to bounce around within the bar; to have consistent amount throughout the bars

how did you attach the corrugated plactic to the wood frames?

I just used staples and a staple gun

Hi! Nice design! I have the same question about attaching the coroplast between the 1×2 pieces. It looks like the edges of the coroplast pieces are butting up to the sides of the 1×2 rather than being flat on top of the 2×2 edges (where they could be stapled). Did you bend the coroplast down the length to staple to the inside of the box?

        Thank you!
