Justin Hesson, Chris Connor, and Chaz Zanaty from Mountaintop Community Church Student Ministry in Vestavia Hills, AL brings us this LED look.
After a couple of days of planning, they finally settled on the intertwined “n” and “u” setup for their new stage design using LED strips. With the LEDs connected using right angle LED tape connectors at every corner, this made their angles straight and blended. They didn’t have a set budget for their design, they just knew it needed to be fairly cheap, but also needed to last their ministry as long as possible. All LED tape was not placed directly on the wall, instead placed on 2×2 strips of wood nailed to the wall. All wiring was pinned to the wall and run to a 24-Channel DMX decoder under the drum riser, controlled using Vista by Chroma – Q (previously called Jands Vista) software, and a Jands Vista S1 lighting desk. Several other fixtures were in use as well, like ADJ pocket pros, Venue TriStrips, and Proline blinders.
Their worship space (Student Center) is a gym/stage mix, which leads to some trouble with sound design. They plan to fix this with sound paneling in the future.
